custom workshops

when it comes to custom workshops, The Meet Cart has a goal to help companies, organizations and teams create opportunities that not only bring people together, but allow them to dive deep into exploratory experiences that connect groups so they can move forward with a clearer sense of direction with a boost of creativity,

EXAMPLES OF CUSTOM WORKSHOPS:

  • A POCKETFUL OF PURPOSE - a workshop that allowed a team to delve into the possibilities ---personal and professional, within an introspective format of a zine.

  • DECK OF YARDS - Inch by inch: work’s a cinch. Yard by yard: work can get hard. But not when you have reminders and check points along the way to assist in reaching a specific goal or objective. In this workshop, participants designed a pocket-sized reflective deck of cards centered around growth and development---individually and as a team.

  • CUSTOMIZABLE 7 SECOND STORIES - This is the standard Meet Cart activity wherein consecutive rounds, participants are prompted to draw something...in only 7 seconds. The scribbles end up sparking funny, interesting, and engaging conversations. Custom themes: failure, the 2020 election, leadership, racial justice, books, kindness, and entrepreneurship.

so, what’s the meet cart?

The Meet Cart is a mobile structure where unfamiliar people become unexpected pals---it's where strangers meet, greet and play through games, prompts and activities. Amidst COVID19, Betterish has been bringing it to a virtual space and word on the street it's been just as fun. Scroll below to see what participants have been saying about their virtual Meet Cart celebrations.

cool but why bring the meet cart to a virtual happy hour?

In playing a game geared for people to get to know each other in a fun, light-hearted format, the Meet Cart is a vehicle that transforms social lulls into laughter.

sounds fun. so the happy hour basically consists of playing a communal game together in a zoom room?

You got it! Specifically, we will play a game called 7 Second Stories. In consecutive rounds, participants will be prompted to draw something...in only 7 seconds. Let’s be real: no one can draw anything that great in 7 seconds. The goal is to get all of your colleagues in a more creative, active headspace. The scribbles end up sparking funny, interesting and meaningful conversations.

Prompts range from "you have 7 seconds to write down your favorite song you like to jam to at work," to "you have 7 seconds to draw what you miss most about the office right now," to "you have 7 seconds to draw a source of hope or optimism right now."

What if our society deemed it essential for adults to have a recess everyday? Our world tends to dismiss the power of play for adults, but turns out that play sparks joy which is actually vital for problem solving, creativity, and relationships. In this interactive workshop, delve into new ways to lighten up during a heavy workday. Explore how you can create breaks in your workflow that make space for your imagination and fun (yes: fun). Participants will re-learn the power of play through simple prompts and activities that will ignite wackiness, wit, and wildly deeper connections with themselves and others.

HERE’S WHAT PARTICIPANTS HAVE BEEN SAYING…

“we were struggling to find a way to connect over the past several months. staring at a zoom room of 30 people was not anyone’s idea of a good time. i reached out to emily after participating in a monday meet cart session with the hopes that she could facilitate some conversations and help us actually have fun at happy hour. the first one was a hit, and we’ve been back three times since. her game is engaging, thoughtful, fun and gave us a way to talk about the important things in a challenging time. we will be back again.” -KELSIE, LEVER ARCHITECTURE

“one of the hardest goals to meet during a virtual convention is attendee connection. the meet cart happy hour we offered was a wonderful solution to the problem - our attendees met new people, laughed, and made connections. it was easy to participate and a great success! we would definitely do it again.” -AUBREY, NATIONAL SOCIETY FOR HISTOTECHNOLOGY ANNUAL SYMPOSIUM/CONVENTION

“emily’s interactive facilitation at the meet cart helped our graduate business school community to open up and connect as we work to adapt to virtual learning and networking. the way she facilitated encouraged us to focus on things that we love and appreciate—sharing those with each other allowed us to start our semester off in such a meaningful way. emily helped to set a positive tone during a time where it is critical for us to work together to build intentional connections, and for that we are incredibly grateful. ” -LIZ, FORDHAM UNIVERSITY: GABELLI SCHOOL OF BUSINESS

“emily hosted a virtual meet cart happy hour for our remote team of 10 people during the safer-at-home orders. it was such a great way for our team to re-connect and bond with an organized and fun activity. we all had a good laugh and learned lots of new things about each other. i highly recommend booking one for your team today!” -RACHEL, COLORADO LENDING SOURCE

“emily from betterish hosted an all-company happy hour for our 22 person company. it was month three of remote working from home and we were sensing that everyone needed a lift, some fun together and not another meeting where just a few people speak to a gallery view of deadpan faces-in-squares. the meet cart happy hour was a perfect way to come together, talk through some things, and get to know each other better. she was a fun, exuberant host, and an expert on zoom. we loved the breakout rooms! and now we have a great playlist for the office, once we are ever all together again” -JEN, THREAD CREATIVE
